  • Want to move into technical, wreck or trimix diving in a realistic, structured way
  • Are interested in Hollis Prism2 CCR training or PADI Tec open circuit in Europe

You can see the full overview of course options on Prism2 & PADI Tec courses in Malta.

Jason Trott is a Malta-based technical and rebreather instructor with 500+ hours on the Hollis Prism2 and thousands of dives. Diving since 2007 and Tec-qualified from age 18, he now teaches PADI Tec50 and PADI CCR40 on the Prism2 (CCR60 coming soon), using Malta’s wrecks from 5–120 m for progressive, real-world training. His background in IT and university teaching means clear briefings, methodical skills coaching and structured debriefs.

Deep Prism2 experience: 500+ hours on the Hollis Prism2, focused on wreck and tech profiles. Multiple 100m+ dives completed on his unit.

Calm, safety-first coaching: strong emphasis on margins, bailout planning and team behaviour.

Malta wreck specialist: regular training on a range of wrecks, from shallow skills sites to serious deep dives.

Why train in Malta with Jason?

Ideal environment for technical and CCR training

Malta is one of Europe’s best locations for technical and rebreather diving:

  • Depth progression from 5–120 m within a short boat ride or shore entry
  • Excellent visibility and defined wreck structures for skills and navigation
  • Year-round diving with a long season for comfortable training
  • Easy travel from the UK and mainland Europe

For a closer look at the wrecks and depth ranges available, see Malta wreck dive sites.

Small groups and serious coaching

Jason typically teaches 1–2 students per course, which means:

You can find out more about Jason’s background, deep wreck experience and teaching approach on About Jason Trott – PADI Tec & Prism2 instructor.

  • More in-water time and personal feedback
  • Space to work on realistic skills and decision-making
  • Courses paced to your real experience, not just minimum standards

Prism2 specialist plus Tec background

Jason teaches both PADI Tec open circuit and Hollis Prism2 CCR pathways. That means you can:

To explore which route fits you best, check Open Circuit Tec vs CCR – which path first? and then follow up via Contact Jason for a training plan.

  • Start on open circuit Tec and transition to CCR later
  • Go directly into Prism2 CCR if that fits your experience and goals
  • Build long-term plans for deeper wrecks and trimix diving

If you’re interested in rebreathers, the Hollis Prism2 is a proven eCCR platform for serious wreck and trimix diving. diveprism2.eu is set up as a Prism2 Hub for European divers who want structured training and real wreck diving.

On the Prism2 side, you’ll find:

  • Entry-level Hollis Prism2 CCR courses for experienced recreational divers
  • PADI Tec 40 CCR on the Prism2 for deeper wrecks and planned decompression
  • Plans for higher-level CCR60 and CCR100 courses built around real wreck objectives
  • Guided CCR dives and mentored progression for already-certified Prism2 divers

Safety, checklists and planning mindset

Rebreathers and technical dives reward discipline. Training and guided dives with Jason are built around:

  • Structured pre-dive checklists for unit, gas, electronics and bailout
  • Conservative gas and bailout planning matched to your real experience
  • Skills and drills practised under realistic task loading, not just at 6 m
  • Detailed debriefs with clear action points and development plans

You’ll find downloadable tools such as Prism2 checklists, bailout planning templates and Malta-specific packing lists on the Prism2 checklists and planning downloads section of the Hollis Prism2 Hub – rebreather training & resources.
